The end of the Co op bank?

Unfortunately the story only appears to be appearing behind the Times firewall but it would appear that the end of the Co op bank is a distinct possibility

The failings of the mangement have been very well documented and no real need to revisit them here. The pertinent issue is that the loss of a “challenger” to the high street banks is simply not welcome in the present climate.

Outside of the asset and debtor finance market, competition for lending is still far too lukewarm with poor responsiveness which would disgrace most industries. Banks like the Co op (where I had some very good contacts) are needed
